80’s Rewind:80’s Cartoons

The 80’s Saturday Morning cartoons were the best! Every kid would jump out of bed, race down the stairs and turn on the tv at the we crack of dawn. Life was great! We were entertained by our Favorite Characters and got to devour our favorite cereal after digging out the toy that is.  We could sit there all morning in a comatose state for hours.  It was the one time when not even Dad would dare change the channel. Of course, when Saturday morning Cartoons ended, dad and mom would start demanding that we go outside and play.” Don’t come back till the street lights come on”, was a common phrase we would hear after the programs end.

This post took me back to Yesteryear. I researched for 2 days to find the best cartoons from the 80’s. I was surfing all over the web to find these Gems. The cartoons I have in this post are the ones that everyone can enjoy through Free access and virus free links. I know that there are a lot of Golden Classics missing, due to the Virus issues. I did the best I could. Now, please join me in a channel surfing hunt for the best 80’s Cartoons with commercial breaks added.

Count Duckula is an egotistical vegetarian vampire duck who lives in a castle that can travel anywhere he wants to go. He lives with his servants: Nanny, his large and stupid nanny who always has her arm in a sling, and Igor, his evil butler. While Nanny accidentally destroys furniture and Igor attempts to turn the broccoli chomping duck to the dark side, a vampire hunter lurks around with a wooden stake-in-a-gun and unattractive intentions. Although “Duckula” is a spin-off of “Dangermouse”, the humor is of a completely different and original style. Written by David McGuire

Dennis the Menace

Animated TV Series (1986–1988) The 1980s animated version of the classic comic strip, created by cartoonist Hank Ketcham. Dennis Mitchell was an adorable, blond-haired and freckle-faced boy who had one fault: His penchant for mischief, much more so by nature than by definition, though all his long-suffering parents, Henry and Alice, could do was shake their heads and try to explain their son to others. Dennis’ curiosity, escapades and well-meaning ways usually led to trouble; usually on the receiving end was the lad’s neighbor, George Wilson. The gruff Mr. Wilson (a retired postal carrier) just wanted to be left alone and was constantly frustrated by Dennis’ frequent visits and well-meaning ways; all he wanted to do was be left alone and enjoy peace and quiet. His wife, Martha, on the other hand, adored Dennis and saw him as a surrogate grandson. Stories centered on Dennis’ adventures with his friends, among which included Joey and Margaret; his faithful canine companion, Ruff; and the oftentimes less-than-willing Mr. Wilson. Several adventures also involved criminals, who were often begging to be arrested once Dennis got through with them. Though generally considered to be 5 years old in the comic strip, the stories presented in this “Dennis the Menace” series seem to indicate Dennis is several years older, perhaps 9 or 10 years old.—Brian Rathjen
